Kawasaki Z400 2023

Street Born, Z Inspired.

The big bike looks make this a really credible step into the Kawasaki brand. The handling and performance of the Kawasaki Z400 will keep you interested for years to come.

Kawasaki Z400 – Street Born “Z” Inspired

The Kawasaki Z400 uses a 399cc twin cylinder engine that packs a punch of 45bhp. Using a new down draft intake which is accompanied by a larger airbox offers increased intake efficiency.

The new Z400 uses an Assist & Slipper clutch. This requires much less pressure at the lever making city riding a much easier experience also giving a lot more control on the down change preventing the possibility of the rear wheel locking up.

The Z400 offers considerable weight savings over the outgoing Z300 thanks to its new chassis, suspension and engine, which is 1kg lighter than the Z250. These components also offer improved stability and manoeuvrability.

With the latest ABS unit from Nissin, clamping down on a 290 mm semi-floating disc, the Z400 will stop as well as it goes.

Seat height of just 786mm makes the Kawasaki Z400 very accessible to most riders there is also an ErGO-FIT higher seat (+30mm) for the taller rider.

LED headlights clearly light up the path of the Z400 whilst adding to the very modern look of this lightweight superbike. The speedo assembly is taken from the Z400’s big brother the Z650.

The Z400 is also fitted with a 14-litre fuel tank that is capable of offering over 200 miles of range.

The styling of the Kawasaki Z400 is undeniably “Z”, with aggressive looking headlight and bikini fairing and minimalist rear seat unit. The bike shares so many of its looks with the Z1000. Extra “volume” has been designed into the bodywork to give this lightweight machine the presence of one much larger.

The big bike looks make this a really credible step into the Kawasaki brand. The handling and performance of the Kawasaki Z400 will keep you interested for years to come.

ERGO-FIT

ERGO-FIT is an interface system that allows a wide range of riders to feel at one with their machine.

ABS

ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) ensures stable braking performance by preventing wheel lock during braking.

Assist & Slipper Clutch

Based on racing technology, the Assist & Slipper Clutch acts as both a back-torque limiter and a self-servo mechanism that enables a lighter clutch lever pull.

Economical Riding Indicator

The Economical Riding Indicator is a mark appearing on the instrument panel to indicate favourable fuel consumption, encouraging fuel efficient riding

The Z400 was designed to be a real Supernaked machine. Whether navigating the urban jungle or parked on a street corner, this lightweight, powerful Supernaked is sure to turn heads.

Engine

Unmistakable heartbeat

Legendary Kawasaki twin cylinder engine.

The noise of a 90 degree crank, twin cylinder, dual overhead cam, four stroke Kawasaki engine is unmistakable to all enthusiasts of motorcycling. Tried, tested and loved by many powerplant is at the centre of the new bike design. Increased performance comes from extra 100cc of engine capacity which allows the bike to pass through the rigorous Euro5 emissions limits while at the same time boosting the mid and low end performance significantly. Making for smoother and more usable power delivery.

Styling

Aggressive bodywork

Sugomi inspired

The new Z400 combines the sharp, aggressive style of the Z650 with the large-volume design of the Z300 to create an aggressive, agile, masculine impression. Its muscular, athletic bodywork reflects the increased performance while forming a flowing design that appears to float above the engine. Like other models in the Z Series, sugomi design elements (crouching stance, low-positioned head and upswept tail) give it a silhouette instantly recognisable as a Kawasaki Supernaked.

Clutch

Ride with ease

Light feeling lever

More compact clutch (ø139 mm >> ø125 mm) with less rigid operating plates offers a lighter lever pull. Complementing the extremely light feel at the lever, the new clutch has a wider engagement range, facilitating control.

Brakes

Sure stopping power

Pure control

Measuring ø310 mm (the same size as those of the Z1000), the Z400/250’s semi-floating front disc offers sure stopping power. A rigid new front brake master cylinder helps eliminate ineffective (idle) stroke, contributing to controllability, while carefully selected brake hose dimensions and material contribute to brake touch. All models are equipped with ABS and feature the latest ABS unit from Nissin, the most compact and lightweight available.

Frame

Trellis frame

Dynamic rigidity

The Z400 features a trellis frame similar in design to that of the Ninja H2. Kawasaki’s advanced dynamic rigidity analysis was used to ensure optimum rigidity with light weight. The engine is rigid-mounted and used as a stressed member. The new frame design contributes significantly to the bike’s low curb mass.
