The Desmosedici RR was Ducati’s bold attempt to bring MotoGP technology to the road. Limited to just 1,500 units worldwide, the RR was based directly on the GP6 race bike and marked the first time a manufacturer offered a true replica of its premier-class racing machine to the public.
Engine and Performance
• Engine: 989cc V4 with desmodromic valve actuation
• Power: Approximately 200 horsepower at 13,800 rpm
• Top Speed: Over 190 mph
• Transmission: 6-speed with dry clutch
• Exhaust: Twin underseat Termignoni system with carbon fiber silencers
This engine was a marvel of engineering, delivering blistering performance and a soundtrack that echoed the paddock.
Chassis and Components
• Frame: Tubular steel trellis with carbon fiber subframe
• Suspension: Öhlins fully adjustable front and rear
• Brakes: Brembo monobloc calipers with massive discs
• Wheels: Marchesini magnesium alloy
Every component was chosen for its race-grade pedigree, making the RR not just fast, but razor-sharp in handling.
Design and Aesthetics
The Team Edition features the official Ducati Corse livery, echoing the bikes ridden by Loris Capirossi and Sete Gibernau. The bodywork is entirely carbon fiber, contributing to its lightweight and aggressive stance.
Rarity and Collectibility
With only 1,500 units produced and even fewer in pristine condition with ultra-low mileage like this one (842 miles), the Desmosedici RR is a crown jewel for collectors. It represents a unique moment in motorcycle history when the line between race and road was truly blurred.
