Power To Move You

The 2016 Kawasaki Z1000 SX range benefits from a whole host of new technology including Kawasaki’s highly praised KTRC electronic traction control system as used on the flagship Kawasaki ZZR 1400 and ZX10R models. With three traction modes to choose from, including those covering sports riding or even low grip situations, the traction control is further complemented by two rider selectable power modes.

Kawasaki have also updated the engine itself with a variety of changes and upgrades which focus on more instant and responsive power delivery that greatly benefit the rider. Both power and torque are improved throughout the rev range. 2016 also sees the introduction of a slipper clutch on this model.

The 2016 Kawasaki Z1000SX also benefits from updates at both ends with revised settings for the 41mm front forks and a radial-mount master cylinder operating new Tokico monobloc callipers with the option of ABS that offer excellent stopping power and feel.

The shock absorber now features an easily accessible remote adjuster allowing the rider to fine tune the rear suspension in seconds. Ideal for changing ride situations with the optional luggage.

A 3 way adjustable screen ensures that wind protection is optimised for all riders. The new fairing design ensuring that the heat from the engine is directed away from the rider.

In the case of the Kawasaki Z1000SX Tourer, the most noticeable change is the new, bespoke designed colour-coded optional pannier system – with each of the 28L panniers able to hold a full-face helmet. Designed to hug the centre line of the machine.

Featuring a new mounting system with no frames which ensures the machine looks as good with the panniers in place as when naked, another advantage is the convenience of the “one key” system with both ignition and luggage operated by the same key.

All of these changes have made an already very good bike into a truly superb all round machine catering for every biking sutuation.

Exhilarating In-line Four engine

Powerful 1,043 cm3 liquidcooled, 4-stroke In-line Four engine pulls strongly from all rpm and does not let up before the redline. Adding to rider exhilaration, the engine delivers superb response, a strong mid-range hit and an intoxicating intake howl. Revised engine settings offer even smoother power delivery, facilitating control and contributing to rider comfort and confidence.

Cool Air System

The Cool Air system routes cool air to the airbox from ducts at the front of the side fairings, minimising performance loss due to heated intake air.

Wind Protection

A new, taller double-bubble windshield also contributes to the increased wind protection. As before, the windshield is adjustable by hand (without tools), with three available positions to suit rider preference

Pannier System

The mounting system for the accessory panniers allows the panniers to be attached and removed very simply, contributing to increased convenience. Seamlessly integrating the panniers with the rear of the bike, the clean-mount system positions the panniers close to the bike centreline, and, thanks to its clean clutter-free design, ensures the rear of the bike still looks good with the panniers removed.

Stylish multi-functional instrumentation

All-new sophisticated instrument design features a large analogue tachometer
flanked by warning lamps on one side, and a gear position indicator and multi-function
LCD screen on the other.

LED Headlamps

Contributing to the Z1000SX’s sharper looks, dual LED headlamps (each featuring low and high beams, as well as a LED position lamp) offer significantly increased brightness, casting their light wider and farther forward.

Comfort

The Z1000SX’s relaxed riding position was designed to accommodate everything from city riding to touring to sport riding. This blend of comfort and control allows the rider to enjoy a variety of riding situations.
Both rider and passenger seats deliver increased comfort. The redesigned rider seat has a wider seat area, while the passenger seat is longer (+25 mm), with 3 mm thicker urethane padding and a design that swells at the front.

Suspension

The Z1000SX’s suspension settings allow the bike to respond quickly to rider input while soaking up bumps and ruts.
ø41 mm inverted front fork features stepless compression and rebound damping and spring preload adjustability.
The rear shock features rebound and preload adjustability, with a remote preload adjuster facilitating setting changes to suit tandem riding, luggage or rider preference.

Kawasaki Cornering Management Function

Using the latest evolution of this advanced modelling software and feedback from a compact Bosch IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), KCMF monitors engine and chassis parameters throughout the corner – from entry, through the apex, to corner exit – modulating brake force and engine power to facilitate smooth transition from acceleration to braking and back again, and to assist riders in tracing their intended line through the corner.

Kawasaki Traction Control

Three modes cover a wide range of riding conditions, offering either enhanced sport riding performance or the peace of mind to negotiate slippery surfaces with confidence. The IMU-enhanced feedback allows even more precise management than on the previous model.

Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System

Kawasaki’s supersportgrade high-precision brake management system is standard equipment on the 2017 Z1000SX. This is the same base system used on the Ninja H2 and Ninja ZX-10R, with programming and settings revised to suit the performance parameters of the Z1000SX.
