Tom Sykes & Kawasaki take the double win at Donington Park

Tom Sykes took a memorable double home win at the Donington Park World Superbike round, as he turned the tables on his Kawasaki Racing team-mate Jonathan Rea, who has so far dominated the series.

Sykes looked in fantastic form throughout the weekend, taking pole position, two race wins and a new lap record. Crucially his recent run of good form has put him the series standings, so he now sits just one point behind second place.

Sykes and Rea had a spectacular battle in front of their British fans in race one with the 2013 Champion taking the chequered flag in deserved style. Rea then had a massive moment in the second race, putting him way down the order, before he scythed through the pack to take the runner-up slot again, for another Kawasaki 1-2. Rea now sits at the top of the standings with a massive 101 point advantage.

Kawasaki Racing Manager, Steve Guttridge, commented “It is incredible to see yet another dominating WSBK Kawasaki 1-2 and great to see Tom really hit top form at his home round.”
