Ducati has launched the 2014 899 Panigale superbike at the Frankfurt show. It will cost £12,495 when it goes on sale here in the UK from November.

Having been speculated for months, Claudio Domenicali, Ducait's CEO unveiled the new Panigale during the VW Group Night, which is  held the night before every major show to highlight the offerings of Volkswagen, Audi (which owns Ducati), Skoda, Seat, Bentley, Lamborghini.

This new 899 Panigale is a “Supermid” version of the larger-engined 1199 Panigale intended to provide a new way to access the exclusive world of Ducati Superbikes.  Designed to provide the thrill of Ducati's flagship model but with the refinement expected of an everyday streetbike.

A new version of the Superquadro engine features a revised bore and stroke for a broad power delivery, developing 148 horsepower with 73lb ft of torque.

Like the larger capacity 1199 Panigale, the 899 has a V-twin engine that's a fully stressed member of the innovative chassis, which provides an outstanding power-to-weight ratio and ride-enhancing agility with a dry weight of 372.5lb.

Ducati is at the forefront of electronic ridder aids and the 899 Panigale features Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) gearchanging, along with a ride-by-wire package, triple-stage ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and Engine Brake Control (EBC).

The 899 Panigale will be available in traditional Ducati red with black wheels, or beautiful arctic white with red wheels.

We can't wait to see it in the flesh……
