Kawasaki Ninja H2 SE SX 2018

Kawasaki H2 SX SE - Back to the future 2

SUPERCHARGE YOUR JOURNEY

Other than the green livery, the Kawasaki H2 SX SE comes with additional cornering lights, a bi-directional quickshifter, launch control and the top-spec dash, which combines an analogue tacho with a multi-function TFT Colour screen with two selectable display modes (Touring or Sport) to allow riders to prioritise what they see on screen.

As with the Kawasaki H2 SX the substantially reworked engine also boasts a new flavour of supercharger to smooth out the power delivery, and soften the H2’s dramatic punch. It’s also there to allow the 998cc inline-four to muster 200PS peak power and 137.3 n.m of torque, while achieving much-improved emissions, and the same sort of fuel economy you’d expect from the Versys 1000.

Electronic cruise control, traction control and engine braking control and KCMF (Kawasaki Cornering Management Function), which uses an IMU to monitor engine and chassis performance throughout the corner, modulating brake force and engine power to get the best transition from acceleration to braking and back again all come as standard on this magnificent machine.

The Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX SE comes with a two year unlimited mileage warranty. Please talk to our staff to find out more about the Kawasaki factory warranty extension to four years that is available or have a look at the warranty tab on this page.

Street-legal Motorcycles**

* Private use - a private user is defined as "any person who is acting for purposes which are not related to his trade, business or profession".

** Street-legal Motorcycles - only models sold as street legal by Kawasaki Motors UK may be covered.

Warranty Terms and Conditions

If, within the extended warranty period, a failure occurs which is determined by Kawasaki to be caused by a manufacturing defect, Kawasaki will, at its discretion, arrange for the repair or replacement of the necessary parts at no cost to the customer. This can be carried out by any authorised Kawasaki Dealer. However, it is recommended that repairs and servicing are done by the original selling dealer who has a full history and knowledge of each product they have sold.

Note the following terms used throughout this document:

  • 'Kawasaki' = Kawasaki Motors Europe N.V.
  • 'Dealer' = Official Kawasaki dealer authorised for the relevant product group.

This warranty contains obligations and exclusions solely on the part of Kawasaki Motors Europe N.V. and not on the part of any dealer.

Nothing in this document shall be construed as an agency between Kawasaki and any of its authorised dealers or their staff.

Under current EU Consumer Law, customers have certain statutory rights contained within legislation governing the sale of goods to consumers (private users). This warranty does not in any way detract from or affect the statutory rights of the customer.

Please note:

  • This warranty is only available for and only applies to those products officially imported into the European Union (the EU) by Kawasaki Motors Europe N.V. and sold within the EU by an authorised Kawasaki dealer.
  • This warranty is only valid within European countries, which have official Kawasaki authorised representation for the product(s) concerned.

Warranty Exclusions

Kawasaki will not accept responsibility if, in its sole opinion, the part or parts require repair or replacement as a direct result of:

a) Alteration from standard specification in a manner, which affects the performance, durability or safety of the product or any of its component parts or genuine Kawasaki accessories, e.g.:

  1. The fitting of non-genuine Kawasaki parts or accessories, unless these are recommended or approved in writing by Kawasaki;
  2. Modifications or adjustments not recommended or approved in writing by Kawasaki.

b) The use of lubricating oils, fuel or other fluids (including cleaning materials) which are not in accordance with the recommendations contained in the owner's manual.

c) Improper uses, improper repair (this includes fitting of non-genuine or 'pattern' parts), accidental or fire damage and contamination by or submergence in water.

d) Deterioration due to normal wear and tear in service. The warranty does not cover routine service adjustment or normal replacement of service items (such as oils, fluids, spark plugs and filters), or wear and tear items (such as batteries, brake and clutch friction materials, drive chains or belts and tyres, cables and bearings). However, such items are covered if replacement is required as a direct result of a manufacturing or material defect.

e) Any competitive racing or related use.

f) Any damage or consequential damage caused by accident or by owner's or operator's neglect or abuse.

g) Improper storage or deterioration from the elements.

The warranty may not apply if:

i) The periodic maintenance and servicing is not carried out by an authorised Kawasaki dealer at the appropriate intervals specified in the relevant owner's manual. Evidence of this servicing must be produced, if requested, at the time of any warranty claim. It is the owner's responsibility to ensure the service record book is kept up to date by the servicing dealer. It is advisable also to keep copies of any service or repair invoices in case the book is lost.

ii) Any problem experienced is not reported to a Kawasaki Dealer within a reasonable time or the motorcycle is not properly inspected by that dealer. The owner should take all possible steps to prevent further damage as soon as any problem is apparent. Any consequential damage that is caused by the continued use of the product after a problem has been identified may not be covered by this warranty.

The warranty covers private use only. The warranty will not apply if the unit is used for any business or commercial purpose.

The following items are not covered:

  • Cables
  • Batteries
  • Bulbs
  • Accessories (Genuine Kawasaki Accessories are warranted for 24 months if registered to the machine by your Dealer)
  • Cosmetic appearance

Breakdown

In the event of a breakdown it is the owner's responsibility to ensure the product is taken to an authorised Kawasaki Dealer for attention. Kawasaki will not be responsible for recovery costs or any other costs associated with the transportation of a product to a Kawasaki Dealer.

Warranty Transfer

The extended warranty plan can be transferred to subsequent private owners of the covered product at no cost. Applications can be made by using the warranty transfer form in the warranty booklet or through any Kawasaki dealer.

Right to Cancel

The plan may be cancelled and a refund made in full at the purchaser's request within 30 days of purchase. An administration fee of £17 will be deducted from the refund.

A refund will also be considered after the start of the extended warranty period in case of theft or total loss due to an accident. In these cases the refund will be made upon the following basis:

  • Deduction of an administration fee of £17.
  • Deduction of any claim amount paid under the extended warranty programme.
  • Deduction of the proportional amount of the plan fee according to the number of months the extended warranty has been running.

This right to cancel is in addition to and does not in any way detract from or affect the statutory rights of the customer. Any refunds will be made by Kawasaki UK after application to and approval by Kawasaki.

Features only found on the Kawasaki H2 SX SE

LED Cornering Lights

The Ninja H2 SX SE cornering lights built into each side of the fairing help illuminate the road when cornering at night. Each of the three lights has a fixed direction and is activated based on lean angle. As the bike leans over, the lamps come on in order, creating a wider path of light in the direction the bike is heading. Only on the SE model

Cornering Lights

KLCM (Kawasaki Launch Control Mode)

Designed to assist the rider by optimising acceleration from a stop, KLCM electronically controls engine output to prevent wheelspin and minimise wheel lift when launching.  KLCM should only be used under closed-course conditions; do not use KLCM during everyday riding. Only on the SE model

Launch Control

KQS (Kawasaki Quick Shifter)

Dual-direction quick shifter allows both clutchless upshifts and downshifts. Designed for effective sport riding, street-optimised settings enable operation at rpm above 2,500 min-1. Only on the SE model

Quickshifter

LCD vs TFT

The advanced, high-tech design of the instrumentation contributes to the Ninja H2 SX’s flagship-level quality. Kawasaki’s first use of a high-grade full colour TFT LCD screen on the SE.  The SE model’s screen enables information to be displayed graphically.  Two selectable display modes (Touring, Sport) allow riders to prioritise the information they want to see depending on the kind of riding they are doing at the time. Compared to the analogue-style tachometer that is complemented by a full digital LCD screen on the standard model.

Cornering Management

Using feedback from the compact Bosch IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) that gives a real-time picture of chassis orientation, KCMF monitors engine and chassis parameters throughout the corner – from entry, through the apex, to corner exit – modulating brake force and engine power to facilitate smooth transition from acceleration to braking and back again, and to assist riders in tracing their intended line through the corner. On the Ninja H2 SX, KCMF oversees the following systems:
-KTRC (including traction and wheel lift control)
-KIBS (including pitching and corner braking control)
-Kawasaki Engine Brake Control
-KLCM (SE-only)

Everyday Usability & Supercharged Acceleration

Achieving an engine that could deliver superb fuel efficiency and gratifying acceleration at street-riding speeds started with increasing the compression ratio in order to increase the engine’s thermal efficiency.  From there, the supercharger, combustion chamber, cams, and intake and exhaust components were all redesigned.  The result is a versatile engine character that enables relaxed long-distance riding, easy manageability at slow speeds, and – when called upon – the exhilarating acceleration that only a supercharged engine can deliver.

Cooler Running & Lighter Weight

The more efficient engine also generates less heat than that of the performance-hungry Ninja H2, whose base engine construction needed to handle the more than 300 PS of the mighty Ninja H2R.  Less heat translates to greater rider comfort.  And unlike the Ninja H2 with its voracious appetite, the engine flows less air, meaning quieter operation and the possibility of a lighter exhaust system – less air in means less air out, so smaller exhaust volume to be quietened.  In total, the new engine, including the exhaust system, is approximately 3 kg lighter.

Fuel Efficiency

The Ninja H2 SX’s superb fuel efficiency represents a significant increase over the supercharged engine of the Ninja H2, and is on par with that of the Z1000SX and Versys 1000.  Combined with its 19 litre fuel tank, this gives the Ninja H2 SX a substantial cruising range.

Sportiness & Wind Protection

Full-fairing bodywork contributes to both wind protection and the Ninja H2 SX’s sporty looks. The full fairing was possible thanks to the highly efficient engine, which gives off significantly less heat than that of the high-performance Ninja H2. The bodywork strategically shields the rider without being too large, balancing rider comfort and aerodynamics. On the SE model, a large windscreen further protects the rider from windblast, offering even greater touring comfort.

Relaxed, Sporty Riding Position

The riding position for the Ninja H2 SX was designed with both sport riding and comfort in mind.  Not as far forward-leaning as the ZZR1400, and not as upright as the Z1000SX, the Ninja H2 SX’s riding position offers a more relaxed bend for both the elbows and knees than the ZZR1400.  Realising high-speed performance with an upright riding position is difficult to achieve, but thanks to the Ninja H2 SX’s superb wind protection the riding position more comfortable than that of the ZZR1400 was possible.  The position is comfortable for both in-town riding and long touring, while still enabling the rider to enjoy sporty riding in the hills.

Clean-Mount Pannier System

The mounting system for the accessory panniers allows the panniers to be attached and removed very simply, contributing to increased convenience. Seamlessly integrating the panniers with the rear of the bike, the clean-mount system positions the panniers close to the bike centreline, and, thanks to its clean clutter-free design, ensures the rear of the bike still looks good with the panniers removed.  High-speed testing on Germany’s Autobahn ensures stable operation with panniers.

New Trellis Frame

The Ninja H2 SX features an innovative trellis frame like the Ninja H2, but to be able to accommodate a passenger and luggage, the frame needed to be completely redesigned.  Its 195 kg payload is comparable to that of the Z1000SX.  And increased rigidity and a longer wheelbase deliver the stability for riding at highway speed with panniers, while a 30o steering angle facilitates low-speed manoeuvres
