New Horizons – The J125
The Kawasaki J125 Scooter is a large Scooter often known as a super scooter. It's aggressive design adopts styling elements from Kawasaki's Ninja range which will appeal to super sport fans.
With so many scooters available on the market, it was important that the Kawasaki J125 stand out from the crowd. The J125’s sharp, aggressive design adopts styling elements from our Kawasaki Ninja super sport motorcycles, ensuring a strong Kawasaki family resemblance just as its bigger brother the J300 did.
The new Kawasaki J125 uses a 125 cc liquid-cooled single cylinder engine that provides plenty of power to cope with the demands of a daily commute. The ABS braking system ensures that the maximum level of stopping power is given even on those greasy manhole covers.
There are many features that set the J125 apart from other scooters available today, such as the adjustable brake levers to the fold out pillion foot pegs derived from the Kawasaki motorcycle ranges.
A great deal of thought has gone in to this new scooter from Kawasaki’s engineers. The sporting Ninja characteristics include the sculpted floor boards to not only allow maximum bank or lean angles but also to allow the riders legs to go straight down rather than be spread apart when stationary.
As well as the sporting aspects of the Kawasaki J125 it also boasts all of the practical features that today’s super scooter owners have come to expect, such as the ergonomically contoured really comfortable seat. There is storage under the seat for a full-face helmet and a sealed glove box for storage of a mobile phone or anything else the modern commuter might need, as well as a hook in front of the rider for your takeaway.
125 cm3 Liquid-Cooled, 4-Stroke Single
Coupled with a smooth CVT transmission, the J125’s engine offers plenty of power to move two people through the urban jungle. Taking into account coolant temperature, air intake temperature, throttle position, air intake pressure and crankshaft angle, the fuel injection system (which uses a ø27 mm throttle body and a 16-bit CPU) automatically meters out the ideal amount of fuel for extremely stable power delivery – regardless of the conditions. And of course, setting adjustments are not necessary, and starting is hassle-free.
CURVED FLOORBOARD
Floorboards are specially designed to facilitate the reach to the ground when stopped: concave cut-outs minimise interference with the rider’s legs.
SHARP, STYLISH DESIGN
Based on the striking design of Kawasaki’s J300, the J125’s styling sets it apart from other scooters in the 125cc market. High attention to detail and a superb level of fit and finish contribute to its high-quality appearance. Like the J300, the J125’s multifaceted design borrows styling elements from our supersport models, ensuring a strong Kawasaki family resemblance.
ADJUSTABLE BRAKE LEVERS
Left and right brake levers are both adjustable, offering riders four settings to suit hand size and preference.
HANDY GLOVE BOX
Sealed glove box at the front can accommodate small items (maximum load 1.5 kg) and includes a 12V accessory outlet.
CARGO HOOK
Foldaway cargo hook on the front inner cover is a convenient way to secure a purse or small bag. Maximum load is 3 kg.
GOOD FOOT GRIP
Floorboards offer good grip, helping to hold the rider’s feet in place, which also contributes to the J125’s easy control. Heel grips make it easier to hold the bike with the heels, facilitating
control.
INSTRUMENTATION
Design of the instruments contributes to a high quality image. Instruments consist of analogue speedometer and tachometer dials flanking a multi-function LCD panel. LCD meter functions include: odometer, dual trip meters, service mode, clock, fuel gauge, coolant temperature gauge, and engine warning symbol.
ANTI-TAMPER, ANTI-THEFT IGNITION SWITCH
The ignition switch has three positions: ON, OFF and LOCKED (which locks the steering column). Ignition switch is equipped with a shutter to discourage tampering and theft. The shutter can be conveniently opened with the back of the key.
LED TAILLIGHT
At the rear, the sharp tail cowl gives the rear of the J125 a distinctive Kawasaki appearance. Sharp taillight design similar to that of our Z models helps the J125 stand out from the rest of the mob in crowded city traffic.
HIGH-QUALITY TOUCHES
The J125 offers a high level of fit & finish and numerous high quality touches that contribute to its overall quality appearance. Complementing the high quality instrumentation, metallic paint on the sculpted handlebar cover adds a touch of class the cockpit. Two-pattern seat cover and silver stitching contributes to the appearance of the seat.
ERGONOMICALLY CONTOURED SEAT
Contoured, thickly padded seat offers excellent comfort and
good rider support.
DUAL PETAL DISC BRAKES
Front and rear disc brakes provide abundant stopping power. At the front, a 260 mm petal disc is gripped by a two-piston caliper. Stainless steel mesh brake hose contributes to direct brake feel. A 240 mm petal disc and two-piston caliper slow the rear.
SPORTY & COMFORTABLE SUSPENSION SETTINGS
Settings selected to deliver both light, sporty handling and comfortable ride feel when navigating European city streets. The rear shocks are preload adjustable, with five settings to choose from.
ACCESSORY TOPCASE
Accessory GIVI top case available in three sizes: 30 L, 39 L, 47 L.
UNDER-SEAT STORAGE
Under-seat storage is large enough to accommodate a full face helmet and an A4-size briefcase – ideal for business use. Maximum load is 10 kg.
14” FRONT, 13” REAR WHEELS
Wheel size selected to offer riding stability on European city streets.
ABS
Sudden over-application of the brakes, or braking on low-grip surfaces (surfaces with a low coefficient of friction) such as wet asphalt or manhole covers may cause a motorcycle's wheel(s) to lock up and slip. ABS was developed to prevent such incidents. Kawasaki ABS systems are controlled by high precision and highly reliable programming formulated based on thorough testing of numerous riding situations. By ensuring stable braking performance, they offer rider reassurance that contributes to greater riding enjoyment.
And to meet the special requirements of certain riders, specialised ABS systems are also available. For example, KIBS (Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System) is a high-precision brake system designed specifically for supersport models, enabling sport riding to be enjoyed by a wider range of riders. And by linking the front and rear brakes, K-ACT (Kawasaki Advanced Coactive-braking Technology) ABS provides the confidence to enjoy touring on heavyweight models. Kawasaki is continually working on the development of other advanced ABS systems.
