Kawasaki Versys 1000 2017

One Bike Does It All - Versys 1000

The Kawasaki Versys 1000 is the 4 cylinder big brother to the very popular Kawasaki Versys 650 Parralel Twin.

To maximise the  fun factor of the Kawasaki Versys 1000, engineers provided the most exciting engine possible. Delivering more than just performance figures. The 1,043 cc In-line Four used in the superb Kawasaki Z1000 and Z1000SX ranges, tuned for flexibility. Superb throttle response and strong torque at all rpm (especially in the low-mid range).

The seductive intake howl ensures that every twist of the throttle is as exciting and infectious as the last.

All Versys 1000 modelsl have 3-Mode KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control) this system covers a wide range of riding conditions, offering sports riding performance in dry conditions or the peace of mind to negotiate slippery surfaces in wet cold weather with confidence.

Full or Low Power modes allow the rider to set power delivery to suit all conditions. Low Power mode limits output to approximately 75% of Full Power and uses a milder throttle response.

Long-travel suspension enables riders to take on corners with ease and confidence. While not designed for off-road use, the long-travel suspension’s ability to cope with less-than-perfect surfaces allows the Versys 1000 to remain composed where bikes with stiffer, sportier set-ups would require backing off the throttle.

Lightweight 17” wheels selected for their road sports potential offer increased cornering performance and increased high-speed stability.

The clean mounting system for the genuine panniers allows them to be fitted and removed very simply with a one key system. These along with many other accessories are available for the Kawasaki Versys 1000.

The Kawasaki Versys 1000 has been made to top the big adventure bike sector with traditional Kawasaki build quality.

Alternatively take a look at the Kawasaki Versys 1000 Tourer or Grand Tourer versions that come with many extras as standard. So if you are looking for a bike that does it all then look no further; the Kawasaki Versys 1000 is here!

If, within the extended warranty period, a failure occurs which is determined by Kawasaki to be caused by a manufacturing defect, Kawasaki will, at its discretion, arrange for the repair or replacement of the necessary parts at no cost to the customer. This can be carried out by any authorised Kawasaki Dealer. However, it is recommended that repairs and servicing are done by the original selling dealer who has a full history and knowledge of each product they have sold.

Note the following terms used throughout this document:

  • 'Kawasaki' = Kawasaki Motors Europe N.V.
  • 'Dealer' = Official Kawasaki dealer authorised for the relevant product group.

This warranty contains obligations and exclusions solely on the part of Kawasaki Motors Europe N.V. and not on the part of any dealer.

Nothing in this document shall be construed as an agency between Kawasaki and any of its authorised dealers or their staff.

Under current EU Consumer Law, customers have certain statutory rights contained within legislation governing the sale of goods to consumers (private users). This warranty does not in any way detract from or affect the statutory rights of the customer.

Please note:

  • This warranty is only available for and only applies to those products officially imported into the European Union (the EU) by Kawasaki Motors Europe N.V. and sold within the EU by an authorised Kawasaki dealer.
  • This warranty is only valid within European countries, which have official Kawasaki authorised representation for the product(s) concerned.

Warranty Exclusions

Kawasaki will not accept responsibility if, in its sole opinion, the part or parts require repair or replacement as a direct result of:

a) Alteration from standard specification in a manner, which affects the performance, durability or safety of the product or any of its component parts or genuine Kawasaki accessories, e.g.:

  1. The fitting of non-genuine Kawasaki parts or accessories, unless these are recommended or approved in writing by Kawasaki;
  2. Modifications or adjustments not recommended or approved in writing by Kawasaki.

b) The use of lubricating oils, fuel or other fluids (including cleaning materials) which are not in accordance with the recommendations contained in the owner's manual.

c) Improper uses, improper repair (this includes fitting of non-genuine or 'pattern' parts), accidental or fire damage and contamination by or submergence in water.

d) Deterioration due to normal wear and tear in service. The warranty does not cover routine service adjustment or normal replacement of service items (such as oils, fluids, spark plugs and filters), or wear and tear items (such as batteries, brake and clutch friction materials, drive chains or belts and tyres, cables and bearings). However, such items are covered if replacement is required as a direct result of a manufacturing or material defect.

e) Any competitive racing or related use.

f) Any damage or consequential damage caused by accident or by owner's or operator's neglect or abuse.

g) Improper storage or deterioration from the elements.

The warranty may not apply if:

i) The periodic maintenance and servicing is not carried out by an authorised Kawasaki dealer at the appropriate intervals specified in the relevant owner's manual. Evidence of this servicing must be produced, if requested, at the time of any warranty claim. It is the owner's responsibility to ensure the service record book is kept up to date by the servicing dealer. It is advisable also to keep copies of any service or repair invoices in case the book is lost.

ii) Any problem experienced is not reported to a Kawasaki Dealer within a reasonable time or the motorcycle is not properly inspected by that dealer. The owner should take all possible steps to prevent further damage as soon as any problem is apparent. Any consequential damage that is caused by the continued use of the product after a problem has been identified may not be covered by this warranty.

The warranty covers private use only. The warranty will not apply if the unit is used for any business or commercial purpose.

The following items are not covered:

  • Cables
  • Batteries
  • Bulbs
  • Accessories (Genuine Kawasaki Accessories are warranted for 24 months if registered to the machine by your Dealer)

Breakdown

Warranty Transfer

The extended warranty plan can be transferred to subsequent private owners of the covered product at no cost. Applications can be made by using the warranty transfer form in the warranty booklet or through any Kawasaki dealer.

Right to Cancel

The plan may be cancelled and a refund made in full at the purchaser's request within 30 days of purchase. An administration fee of £17 will be deducted from the refund.

  • Deduction of an administration fee of £17.
  • Deduction of any claim amount paid under the extended warranty programme.
  • Deduction of the proportional amount of the plan fee according to the number of months the extended warranty has been running.

Kawasaki Sports Touring Brochure

Sharp, Sporty Styling

Completely revised styling package blends style, wind protection, aerodynamics and airflow management. The new twin headlamp design contributes to strong Kawasaki looks, while reflecting the Versys 1000’s abundant potential for fun, sporty riding.

Thickly Padded Seat

Deep cushioning and tailor-designed seat material offer superb comfort for long-distance riding

Centre Stand

Standard centre stand facilitates maintenance chores.

Triple Petal Disc Brakes with Latest-spec ABS

Larger front discs are complemented by new pad material designed to deliver stronger initial bite. ABS – standard on all models – offers additional reassurance when braking on low-grip or uneven surfaces

Aluminium Twin-Tube Frame

The frame’s light weight and high rigidity contribute to sharp, firm handling. New rubber upper engine mounts contribute to reduced vibration and greater handling and stability.
Lightweight and highly rigid, the frame uses the engine as a stressed member. It contributes to handling, offering a firm, planted feeling, good stability and light, nimble turning.

Upright Riding Position and Wide Handlebar

Spacious, upright riding position enables easy machine control while contributing to rider comfort, wide handlebar offers easy control, especially for low-speed manoeuvring. Positioned to offer a natural grip, it allows the rider’s elbows to be slightly bent when sitting in a relaxed, upright stance.

Assist & Slipper Clutch

Race-inspired clutch technology offers both a back-torque limiting function as well as a much lighter feel at the lever. Assist & Slipper Clutch was developed based on feedback from racing activities. The clutch uses two types of cams (an assist cam and a slipper cam), offering two new functions not available on the standard clutch of the previous model.

Adjustable Windscreen

Windscreen has a larger 75 mm range, adjustable without tools.

1,043 cm3 Liquid-Cooled, 4-Stroke In-line Four

To maximise the Versys 1000’s fun factor, engineers wanted to provide the most exciting engine possible. The engine needed to deliver more than just performance figures. The engine they chose was a 1,043 cm3 In-line Four, tuned for flexibility. Superb throttle response, strong torque at all rpm (especially in the low-mid range), and a seductive intake howl ensure that every twist of the throttle delivers a physical and aural sensation that riders may easily find addictive.

Large-Volume Fuel Tank

With engine and transmission settings, range (calculated) on one tank could be 400 km.21 litre capacity enables long range between fill-ups (Range would vary depending on riding speed and conditions).

Instrumentation

Tough-design multi-function instrumentation includes an analogue style tachometer and LCD with speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer, clock, dual trip meters, current and average fuel consumption, remaining range, and external air temperature. Large analogue-style tachometer is complemented by a multi-function LCD screen controlled by a convenient handle switch. Revised meter face adds to sporty looks.

ABS

Sudden over-application of the brakes, or braking on low-grip surfaces (surfaces with a low coefficient of friction) such as wet asphalt or manhole covers may cause a motorcycle's wheel(s) to lock up and slip. ABS was developed to prevent such incidents. Kawasaki ABS systems are controlled by high precision and highly reliable programming formulated based on thorough testing of numerous riding situations. By ensuring stable braking performance, they offer rider reassurance that contributes to greater riding enjoyment.

And to meet the special requirements of certain riders, specialised ABS systems are also available. For example, KIBS (Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System) is a high-precision brake system designed specifically for supersport models, enabling sport riding to be enjoyed by a wider range of riders. And by linking the front and rear brakes, K-ACT (Kawasaki Advanced Coactive-braking Technology) ABS provides the confidence to enjoy touring on heavyweight models. Kawasaki is continually working on the development of other advanced ABS systems.
