In 2008 Ducati brought out the stunning Streetfighter 1098 and Streetfighter S using the engine from its world beating 1098 Superbike. Since then the Streetfighter has gained the reputation of being a real hooligan. For some riders even a bit to much of a handful. Now the all new Ducati Streetfighter 848 delivers just as much fun as the 1098 but with a more rider friendly power delivery.

The Streetfighter 848 uses a version of the hugely successful 848 EVO engine. The new 848 testastretta 11 Degree engine.

With 132bhp @ 10,000 RPM and 93.5 nm of torque @ 9500 RPM the Testastretta 11 degree engine combines great performance with a smoother power delivery.

Slightly modified engine timing has improved low rev torque improving low speed in town riding.

The 848 Testastretta 11 degree uses the same engine technology as the larger Diavel and Multistrada engines and as such has extended major service intervals to 24000km that is also. This extension has already been proven successful with the Diavel and Multistrada.

In addition to the new engine the 848 also uses the same oil bathed clutch as in the 848 EVO to improve rider comfort in town and durability of the clutch itself.

The Streetfighter 848 has a new Trellis frame derived from the 848 EVO superbike. Although compared to its bigger brother, it has a reduced rake 24.5’ (as opposed to the 1098cc of 25.6’). This has improved agility and handling considerably.

The swing arm on the bike is also 35mm longer than on the 848 EVO Superbike bringing the wheelbase to 1475mm to ensure stability with the rider in the more upright riding position as well as helping at times of maximum acceleration.

The front forks are 43mm fully adjustable Marzocchi up side down forks, the rear is a progressive linkage with a fully adjustable Sachs unit. Both of these make the Street fighter 848 a true Ducati with sublime handling.

Stopping is taken care of by on the front twin radially mounted 4 piston Brembo callipers gripping onto 320mm semi floating discs. On the rear a 2 piston calliper with 245mm disc.

To ensure everything keeps in check Ducati have given the Streetfighter 848 its MotoGP derived DTC (Ducati Traction Control) that has 8 settings (Plus off) to let the rider decide at the flick of a button how much help he or she may want. Until now this has never been used on the 848.

In short the new Ducati Streetfighter 848 is set to take the world of naked street bikes and turn it on its head. Call now to book your test ride!!!!
