Ducati Multistrada 950 – My First, My Last, My Everything

For the first time on the Multistrada 950 a higher performance “S” model is available, designed to bring the premium 1260 S model features onto the entry level 950 platform. The S model showers the user with premium, top shelf features and equipment.

The ride and handling experience gets a premium treatment with exceptional Skyhook suspension. Making the Multistrada 950S even better off road, this concept can be further complemented with optional spoked wheels. Back on the Paved road, the Skyhook suspension will react to the differing road quality in milliseconds, it will also adjust in accordance to the power mode selected by the user, road condition and quality. All this makes the use of Multistrada 950 S easier and more convenient, making an already capable motorcycle better in every environment.

Testastretta 11° engine fitted on the Multistrada allows Ducati to fit the up and down quickshifter, enhancing the sporty spirit of the Multistrada, this is a very smooth and intuitive combination to an already lively engine. Making it a joy to use on the faster and sportier rides, as well as making the commutes an absolute joy and effortless, comfortable ordeal.

Upgrades to versatility don’t stop there. In true Ducati spirit, the latest tech is flowing through Multistrada veins. Starting with full LED cornering and running lights, the 5″ TFT colour dash, bluetooth phone connectivity through the Ducati Link App Multistrada 950 S is more user friendly and capable than a entry level platform has a right to be. For those long trips, and daily commutes, users will certainly appreciate Multistrada 950 S backlit controls, premium seat and cruise control, all included as standard.

Just as it was the case with the base model, a range of accessory packs are offered to allow the Ducati Multistrada 950 S to be enhanced to better suit your usage of the bike. These kits can be used individually or combined allowing for total personalisation. Kits available are Touring, Sport, Urban and Enduro.

Ducati Multistrada 950

S Model

For the first time, the Multistrada 950 is available in the S version: the maximum in terms of technology, performance and comfort. The bike is equipped with electronic suspensions with the Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) Evo system, Ducati Quick Shift up & down (DQS), full-LED headlight with Ducati Cornering Lights (DCL), 5″ colour TFT display, Hands Free system, Cruise Control and backlit handlebar controls.

Service intervals

The service intervals for the Multistrada 950 are scheduled every 15,000 km, thus reducing the owner’s duties and costs. Thanks to Ducati’s continuous investment into quality and reliability, the 937 cc Testastretta 11° has allowed for another step to be taken in terms of service scheduling; the valve clearance check is now required every 30,000 km, a great advantage for Ducati customers.

Engine

The Multistrada 950 is powered by the already renowned twin cylinder 937 cm3 Testastretta 11°, now extensively overhauled. EURO 4-rated, it has four valves per cylinder, liquid cooling and bore and stroke measurements of 94 and 67.5 mm respectively. Engine power amounts to a maximum of 113 hp at 9,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 96.2 Nm at 7,750 rpm. The compression ratio is 12.6:1.

The twin cylinder Testastretta 11° engine on the Multistrada 950 features two new cylinder heads with a redesigned oil circuit and secondary air intake ducts on the covers. The Multistrada 950 gulps in the fuel mix through new 53 mm cylindrical-section throttle bodies controlled by an advanced Ride-by-Wire system. Moreover, this engine also features a new control unit and electronic injection system. The exhaust system is of the 2-1-2 type with lateral silencer.

Exhaust

The exhaust system layout is based on two primary manifolds that merge directly in the single 2-chamber silencer; the latter, in addition to acting as a 2-1-2 collector, contains the catalytic converter. From here two pipes exit directly towards the light, compact silencers, which are side-mounted in a high position and feature aluminium alloy outer sleeves.

Wheels

The Multistrada 950 is equipped with alloy rims on which are mounted Pirelli SCORPION Trail II tyres in sizes 120/70 R19 at the front and 170/60 R17 at the rear. SCORPION Trail II. This tyre represents the meeting of two paths: off-road racetracks and touring roads. Created for the most demanding of bikers, its strengths include high mileage, consistent performance over its entire life cycle and first-rate behaviour in wet conditions. (Off road focussed tyres are also available for this model).

Frame

On the Multistrada 950 the frame design features a front Trellis made up of large-diameter yet thin tubing, plus two lateral aluminium sub-frames to ensure maximum torsional rigidity. The Multistrada 950 has a minimum ground clearance of 183.5 mm and features a shell-cast aluminium twin-sided swingarm that is painted black.

Lights

The bike is equipped with a front LED headlight with an aggressive and technological design, typical of bikes in the Multistrada family. At the rear is a LED light and it also boasts the hazard light function, activated by pressing the dedicated button.

Electronics

The 950 is equipped with a DSP (Ducati Safety Pack) that includes Cornering ABS and Ducati Traction Control, enhancing bike performance, optimising control and boosting safety levels. This package is managed via four different Riding Modes, each of which (Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro) gives the Multistrada 950 a distinctive personality thanks to different ABS and DTC (Ducati Traction Control) settings.

ABS

The Multistrada 950 standard equipment includes a Brembo braking system with ABS, controlled by the Bosch six axis control unit with integrated pressure sensor, which is part of the Ducati Safety Pack (DSP). The 3-level system ensures short stopping distances and stability whatever the riding conditions thanks to full integration with Riding Modes.
