Ducati Multistrada 950 – My First, My Last, My Everything

Ducati upped the ante in 2019 with the new Ducati Multistrada 950, after the success of the original Multistrada 950 in 2017. The 2019 facelift brings a slew of upgrades and small changes to make the already a great bike even better.

Key to the success of the original Multistrada 950 was the marriage of usability and passion, balance between off and on the road performance all in high quality Italian finish. With the easy to use fully customisable power modes Multistrada 950 can produce approachable, manageable and ampt power and torque. That grunt is largely located in the beefy mid range of the new Testastretta 11° engine.

Great care and attention was made to enhance the robust nature of the motorcycle. With its long service intervals of 9000 miles, great fuel consumption figures, 20l tank and cutting edge electronic safety package, which as standard includes the new 6 axis adjustable traction control and Bosh cornering ABS systems with combined braking.

The Multistrada 950 can easily handle thousands upon thousands of miles, making it a great, safe and fun bike for someone looking for a globetrotter with aspiration to carve twisty roads at a surprising pace. As expected from Ducati, such functionality and performance is wrapped in gorgeous distinctly Italian and stylish bodywork derived from its bigger brother, the Multistrada 1260.

If you abandon the highways and move either to the urban jungle or twisty roads, you will discover a new face of the Multistrada 950. You’ll find it simply oozes character, through its 113 bhp Testastretta 11° engine, responsive and agile handling, commanding comfortable seating position for rider and pillion.

The 2019 Multistrada 950 is equipped with long travel suspension in order to enhance the off road credibility, but to accommodate all riders and increase low speed confidence in urban situations, the seat was made more narrow, bringing down the actual height of the bike. This helps to bring Multistrada 950 to wider array of riders, who will all feel more at home and comfortable handling the bike especially in traffic. Multistrada 950 is a perfect tool for anything you might require from a touring motorcycle.

A range of accessory packs are offered to allow the Ducati Multistrada 950 to be enhanced to better suit your usage of the bike. These kits can be used individually or combined allowing for total personalisation.

Touring versions basically come with the “Touring Kit” pre-installed at the factory. This kit comprises of a centre stand and a pair of colour coded panniers.

ALL Ducati Multistrada Versions from Model Year 2019 onwards will come as standard with a 4 Year Unlimited Mileage Factory Warranty.

Ducati Multistrada 950

Design

Compact-sized, sleek-lined: the new Multistrada 950 reinterprets the stylistic characteristics of the other bikes in the family with a more compact and slender line. The front headlight is unique, while the new side wings and the 20-litre tank bring out the already cutting-edge character of the new Multistrada 950, which conveys lightness even in the lines thanks to the new light alloy rims, or spoke rims available for the S version.

Service intervals

The service intervals for the Multistrada 950 are scheduled every 15,000 km, thus reducing the owner’s duties and costs. Thanks to Ducati’s continuous investment into quality and reliability, the 937 cc Testastretta 11° has allowed for another step to be taken in terms of service scheduling; the valve clearance check is now required every 30,000 km, a great advantage for Ducati customers.

Engine

The new Multistrada 950 is fitted with a Testastretta 11° engine, a technical wonder displaying 113 hp, maximum torque of 9.8 kgm at 7,750 rpm and a slipper clutch that requires limited effort to use, perfect especially in city routes. The DQS technology of the Testastretta 11° makes it possible to upshift and downshift without the clutch: so the new Multistrada 950 is perfect for sporty use and extremely comfortable in the city.

Exhaust

The exhaust system layout is based on two primary manifolds that merge directly in the single 2-chamber silencer; the latter, in addition to acting as a 2-1-2 collector, contains the catalytic converter. From here two pipes exit directly towards the light, compact silencers, which are side-mounted in a high position and feature aluminium alloy outer sleeves.

Wheels

The Multistrada 950 is equipped with alloy rims on which are mounted Pirelli SCORPION Trail II tyres in sizes 120/70 R19 at the front and 170/60 R17 at the rear. SCORPION Trail II. This tyre represents the meeting of two paths: off-road racetracks and touring roads. Created for the most demanding of bikers, its strengths include high mileage, consistent performance over its entire life cycle and first-rate behaviour in wet conditions. (Off road focussed tyres are also available for this model).

Frame

On the Multistrada 950 the frame design features a front Trellis made up of large-diameter yet thin tubing, plus two lateral aluminium sub-frames to ensure maximum torsional rigidity. The Multistrada 950 has a minimum ground clearance of 183.5 mm and features a shell-cast aluminium twin-sided swingarm that is painted black.

Lights

The bike is equipped with a front headlight with an aggressive and technological design, typical of bikes in the Multistrada family. At the rear is a LED light and it also boasts the hazard light function, activated by pressing the dedicated button.

Electronics

The Ducati Safety Pack includes ABS and Ducati Traction Control (DTC); it was further developed with IMU Bosch, which enables the use of ABS cornering function and ensures improved safety in the corners. The new Multistrada 950 also features Ducati Traction Control, which analyses the data incoming from speed sensors fitted on the wheels, in order to adjust rear wheel slippage, if necessary.
