Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP – Get Hyped
As was the case with last year's Hypermotard, the new bike for 2019 comes with the more aggressive, more precise and dedicated SP model.
Ducati has decided to take one step further towards Motard racing madness with the newest iteration of the Hypermotard 950, and the SP model delivers that philosophy in full. Pushing the sports nature of the motorcycle to the absolute limit.
A new Testastretta 11° engine shared with the standard model is tasked with providing maximum enjoyment, performance and motard thrills. 114bhp motor makes 80% of its power available from as little as 3000 rpm, strongly emphasising the wild nature of the bike. Rapid acceleration is made easier with the inclusion of a Ducati up and down quick shifter.
With such astounding low and midrange performance married to light and responsive chassis the Hypermotard 950 SP is an absolute hooligan, like a true motard should be. The power of the grunty L-twin Testastretta 11° engine is governed by 8 ways adjustable Ducati Traction Control system utilising 6 axis IMU designed by Bosh.
With a low end grunt and ampt power the bike makes not only a hoot to take through twisty roads, but it also makes for a pure joy to use in urban environments. Narrow silhouette, long travel, fully adjustable, front and rear Ohlins suspension fitted as standard on the Hypermotard 950 SP. Such refined package allows you precise, responsive and easy handling on the track and more importantly in any situation public roads can create.
A tall and commanding seating position, now made more comfortable for shorter riders through the use of a narrower seat gives more confidence in traffic and slow speed maneuvers.
The electronics package of the Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP is as cutting edge and sophisticated as it is now expected of Ducati motorcycles. The aforementioned traction control system is further complemented by new cornering ABS, all overseen by a Bosh 6 Axis Inertial Measuring Unit. The adjustment and control of the motorcycle is made easier and more intuitive with the 5" TFT V4 inspired dash, which has the capability of connecting through bluetooth via the Ducati Link App to your phone.
To emphasise the extreme nature and racing aspiration of the Hypermotard 950 SP, Ducati has furnished this premium model with an exclusive paint livery carbon fibre mudguard and belt cover, as well as Pirelli Supercorsa tires, stretched over forged aluminium wheels. Altogether making the bike 2kg lighter than the base model.

Motard style
The new Hypermotard perfectly combines such distinctive features of the Hypermotard 1100 as minimalism, aggressiveness, lightweight look and a "fun-bike" image with the innovation and technology of Ducati's latest generation models.
Fun to the Nth degree
The riding position has been thoroughly revised for the utmost riding fun and control. The new Hypermotard 950 sports a new, more open handlebar, narrower side profile and a new Hypermotard 950 seat, featuring a flat, extended profile and a moderate bulge in the passenger area for improved comfort. The SP version seat is flat, in line with the motard style, to facilitate shifting forward and backward on the seat while riding.
Ducati Testastretta 11°
The Hypermotard 950 family is equipped with a revised version of the 937 cu cm twin-cylinder Ducati Testastretta 11°. The twin-cylinder engine has been radically revised (and lightened by 1.5 kg). It outputs 4 more horsepower than its predecessor, achieving 114 hp at 9,000 rpm and a flat torque curve peaking at 9.8 kgm at 7,250 rpm.
Non-stop emotions
Thanks to Ducati's constant attention to quality, the 937 cc Testastretta 11° engine allows optimal maintenance management: valve adjustment is scheduled every 30,000 km. (18,000 miles).
6-Axis Inertial Measurement Unit (6D IMU)
The Hypermotard 950 is equipped with modern, sophisticated electronics based on Bosch 6-axis inertial platform, which instantly detects the motorcycle roll, yaw and pitch angle in space.
Riding Mode
The Sport Riding Mode is suitable for sports-style riding on winding roads or on the track, and delivers the full 114 hp power delivery of the Ducati twin-cylinder engine according to the performance-oriented electronic setup.
The Touring Riding Mode is ideal for in-town and out-of-town outings and for those who prefer a neat, smooth ride. The 114 hp of the Ducati twin are delivered according to a more safety-oriented electronic setup.
The Urban Riding Mode is designed for everyday use in city traffic and under poor grip conditions, e.g. in the rain. That is why for twin-cylinder Testastretta this mode uses a XX hp power limit and its electronic settings are all oriented towards maximum safety.
Instrumentation
The instrumentation of the Hypermotard 950 family includes a 4.3" TFT display.
Headlights and indicators
The front light unit features a lightweight, very compact design and uses a headlight with Daytime Running Light (DRL), ensuring high visibility even during the day
Frame
The Hypermotard 950 family features a new steel trellis frame with variable-section tubes that weighs one kilo less than the previous model.
Suspensions
The Hypermotard 950 is equipped with a new Marzocchi fork with fully adjustable 45 mm aluminum tubes and stanchions, and 170mm wheel travel that shaved off 500 grams compared to the unit installed on the previous version.
Brakes
The front braking system features two monobloc radially-mounted 4-piston Brembo M4.32 calipers operated by a radial brake master cylinder with an adjustable 5-position lever.
Wheels and tyres
These new wheels enabled a weight saving of 800 grams compared to those fitted on the previous model. The Hypermotard 950 SP, on the other hand, is fitted with lightweight Marchesini forged rims with 3 Y-spokes, 3.5" section up front and 5.5" at the rear, and the latest evolution of the Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP racing tyres, namely 120/70 ZR7 up front and 180/55 ZR177 at the rear.
