Trackdays & trackday preparation

Although Seastar do not run or organise motorcycle trackdays, we have in the past been heavily involved. At one point we were present at some 200 events per year offering on track tyre changing facilities, mobile dyno testing and general pit support. This has given us a good insight as to what is needed and to the pitfalls of un prepared machinery.
Please read on as this section is all about trying to help you get more from your trackday

There are always more things to learn every time you go on trackdays, plenty of things to think about - where's pit lane? How do I know when my groups out? How many laps to warm my tyres? Which tyres? Tyre pressures.. and the list goes on.

Well....... we can help with some of this so when you get to your track day all you have to do is listen to the briefing given by the track day company and ride your bike like a racer!.

Your day on track

When you get there in the morning the first thing your going to do is unload the track bike (which of course you brought from Seastar Superbikes (see track bikes for sale) ) tied in with the Motrax harness straps then in the garage your going to need your Harris, Scorpion or Valter Moto paddock stands to get the bike in the air , Then you set your tyre pressures using your Motrax pressure gauge. (link and pic). When you've done this get your tyre warmers on before you get on to the track.

Then its on with the riding gear ,the essential EDZ under suit, Wolf, RST, BERIK or ARLEN NESS leathers, your SHOEI or AGV helmet and the latest SIDI boots with your knox back protector in case you take a tumble.

Of course your bike is already kitted with the latest track day rubber be it Pirelli SuperCorsa Pros , Diable Corsa, Metzeler Racetecs or Rennsports. You got you're your armoured engine case protection and R&G crash bobbins , and thanks to the Full Dyno set up on the Seastar Dyno 250 you know your bike is as good as it can be with its exhaust can or system power commander or jet kit and K&N filter working together as a team.

Seastar can also provide and advise on different gearing for you bike and any spares you might want to take - there's nothing worse than dropping your track bike from the trailer and breaking a lever ~ then not being able to ride for the sake of a well spent few pounds.

As you can see we can cover almost every angle of track daying or racing covered here - it's down to you now to go and enjoy the day knowing you have all you need - and you are, most definitely, the fastest person ever to have ridden the track.... oh and of course if you drop it - we also have the Jig to put it right for you!

Whatever you need give us call and we will see if we can help.

To get the most out of trackdays, as we mentioned above - the bike needs to be well prepared. There are some fundamental differences between preparing for road or track use. Whether this means race compound tyres instead of road compound, hard suspension setups for smooth tracks, gearing for short circuits etc.
Many are reluctant to make these changes to their everyday machine as race tyres on the road simply do not work as they do not get warm enough, race suspension down the UK country lanes isn't ideal - The answer - a dedicated track bike - many of our customers have clubbed together and share these machines.
