Based on the 2010 Kawasaki Z1000 the Z1000SX comes fully faired with two model options, Standard or Touring (Touring comes standard with ABS and colour coded panniers).
Ever since its launch at the Cologne bike show the Kawasaki Z1000SX has been turning heads, not least those of the motorcycle press with terms like "Has Kawasaki built a winner? We think so" and "The most sensible 'real world' big bike at the Cologne Show" say a great deal.
This was proven by the sales of this model for 2012 - our top seller no less!!
Who says that a machine capable of touring distances and offering comfort and practicality can't have style or razor sharp handling characteristics. The aggressive styling of the new Kawasaki Z1000SX has instantly set this bike apart from the pack. Once you have got to the Swiss Alps, you can now have fun riding through them.
The Kawasaki Z1000SX is creating a new category for itself, a bike, which is easy to ride, comfortable and yet capable of harder sport riding. Kawasaki aims the Z1000SX at urban experienced riders who want an exciting sports tourer to make day trips and more.
Supersport-style full-fairings
give the bike a distinct,
look of its own. The
sleek styling also offers a good
measure of wind protection,
facilitating touring runs, The adjustable screen ensures rider comfort at any speed.
The leading edges of the fairings
feature a slat-style design that directs
the wind around the bike, enabling the
fairings to be slimmer in the middle.
The fairings flair at the rear, keeping hot air from the engine from hitting the rider’s
legs.
The powerplant is shared with the Z1000, a Liquid-cooled, DOHC, 16-valve 1,043 cm3 In-line four offers a great power delivery and a very strong torque curve.
Lightweight supersport-style 6-spoke wheels contribute to the machine’s sporty image while offering lower unsprung weight, working hand in glove with the 41 mm inverted front fork that have stepless compression and rebound damping along with spring preload adjustability.
The rear suspension positions the shock unit and linkage above the swingarm, this arrangement contributes to mass centralisation that aids in making the bike much more agile in handling terms whist maintaining stability.
The suspension is located far enough from the exhaust that operation is not affected by heat. The rear shock features rebound and preload adjustability. A cam-style preload
adjuster facilitates making adjustments to suit 2-up riding and/or with luggage.
At the front, 300 mm petal brake discs are gripped by opposed 4-piston radial-mount calipers. A radial-pump front brake master cylinder also contributes to the superb control and feel offered by the calipers. The rear brake features a single piston caliper gripping onto a 250 mm petal disc. The combination of these ensures that the Z1000SX will stop on a sixpence and on the Touring model with the aid of ABS.
The Cool Air system allows a lot of cool air to the air box from the new fairing air ducts, minimising performance loss due to heated intake air. This should not be confused with Ram Air, where force-fed air becomes pressurised in the air box.
A Sporty instrument panel features a large analogue tachometer and multi-function LCD screen. The design is based on that of the Ninja ZX6R, but features original font and colouring.
LED taillight design gives of a hi visible shine to other road users, an elegant design for your mates to watch it leaving them behind.
Thick seat urethane ensures ample rider comfort, The tandem seat is wide and long, with
thick urethane and dampers on the underside of the seat to help reduce vibration.
Sculpted aluminium passenger grab rails are positioned and shaped to offer pillions a good and reassuring grip.
