The Ducati 848 Evo

***

The Ducati 848 Evo could easily be seen as a little brother to the Ducati 1198. In certain aspects this may be true however, in terms of further advances in engineering technology this is far from the case. The all new engine of the Ducati 848 more mimics the engine produced for the 1098R with remarkable weight saving being had from the new "vacuum casting" of both crankcases and engine cases/covers alike.

As with the 1198, the Ducati 848 Evo boasts features like the high rear section and compact front-end married with twin under-seat silencers and single-sided swingarm to express its purpose and agility. The whole package is built to slice through the air. The addition of the new Testastretta Evoluzione engine - the thoroughbred powerplant of this Ducati 848 Evo machine ensures that it is every bit as fast as it looks.

The Ducati ethos ensures that the soul of the Ducati 848 Evo is that of a race bike, pure and simple. The riding position encourages the rider to mould to the sleek lines of the tank and seat; man and machine become one. The Ducati 848 Evo transmits the quality and offers copious amounts of feedback, signaling the way the chassis will react next and responding instinctively to rider commands. The weight savings of the Ducati 848 makes it more agile, more flickable and ends up giving the Ducati 848 Evo a higher power to weight ratio than the Ducati 999.

One thing that makes the Ducati 848 Evo stand out from the Ducati Superbike crowd is the wet clutch and although there are many of you out there that will be dismayed at this move, it does aid to bringing a smoother ride especially in town and at low RPM whilst also offering improved durability.

A picture says a thousand words......A test ride on the Ducati 848 Evo will add sentiment to those words. Visit Seastar Superbikes and throw your leg over this machine at the first opportunity - it will not disappoint!!

The Ducati 848 Evo colours available are Matt White, Red or Matt Black

Please note that although the new Matt Black (Dark) Ducati 848 model is somewhat more cost effective than the Red or White, there is no specification change to this bike.

The key differences between the Evo and it's 848 predecessor are:-

Steering damper as standard
6 BHP increase to 140 BHP
and Monoblock brembo calipers as off the 1198.

For 2012 we see the stunning new Ducati 848 Evo Corse that over and above its corse paintscheme boasts traction control, and electronic quickshifter, an Ohlins rear shock absorber and the 330 mm front discs off the "big" superbike............All this for only £1000 extra !!!
